Since 2023, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries (ITTLLDC) have been collaborating to co-organize annual events that focus on the unique challenges faced by the Landlocked developing countries (LLDCs) in developing their digital economies. These events provide a platform to discuss and put forward possible solutions that can leverage technological evolutions for sustainable digital development in these regions.
Building on these past impactful engagements, ITU and ITTLLDC would be co-organizing seminar in 2025 on the theme Cooperation for Sustainable
Space Connectivity, spectrum use, and Early Warning Systems. Event will discuss key items related to LLDCs in CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) and Asia-Pacific including:
- Promoting international cooperation in the use of space, satellite and non-terrestrial digital connectivity solutions
- Cross border RF interference mitigation
- Leveraging digital networks for Early Warning dissemination
Target
The event would attempt to bring together participants from Asia-Pacific and CIS regions with specific focus on Landlocked Developing Administrations and domain experts.
Notes:
- The event is being planned as a physical event and will be held in a paperless format.
- To encourage participation of eligible countries with priority to Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) from CIS and Asia and the Pacific region, one full fellowship may be granted per eligible Member State of the Asia-Pacific and CIS regions, subject to availability of funds. Applications from Low Income Developing countries and Least Developed countries from (LDCs) from South and South East Asia may also be considered based on eligibility of funds. Full fellowships will cover the cost of air ticket (one return economy class ticket by the most direct/economical route from the country of origin to the meeting venue), and appropriate daily subsistence allowance intended to cover accommodation, meals and incidental expenses. Member States shall cover the remainder of the cost of the participation. The duly validated fellowship request form (Annex 1) and its annexes, if any, must be returned to the Fellowships Service by e-mail to fellowships@itu.int or by fax: + 41 22 730 57 78, by 30 June 2025 at the latest. Registration prior to submitting the fellowship request is mandatory.
Please note that the “’2025 Regional Cyberdrill
for Asia and the Pacific Region’’ will also be held from 2-5 September 2025. We
encourage participants to also consider joining this event.
Consideration may also be given to extend fellowships to participate in both
events, should participants fit the eligibility criteria to participate.
