ICT for Development Forum (ICTD FORUM)

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) organized the ICT for Development Forum (ICTD FORUM) aimed at following up the Connect Asia-Pacific Summit and launching the ADB/ITU initiative on ICT for Development for Asia-Pacific region. The Forum was hosted by the Department of Science and Technology – Information and Communication Technology Office (DOST-ICTO), Government of the Philippines. The meeting was held at ADB Headquarters in Manila, Philippines from 29 to 30 April 2014.

Following the success of the Connect Asia-Pacific Summit held in Bangkok, Thailand on 18 November 2013 whereby a number of projects and partnerships were identified as market opportunities by the ITU, relevant partners and stakeholders, of which among them the ADB/ITU initiative on ICT for Development for Asia-Pacific region which was announced at the Summit

This ICTD Forum was aimed at:
• Launching the ADB/ITU initiative on ICT for Development for Asia-Pacific region (ICTD-ASP) which is a multi-stakeholder platform for cooperation and coordination on ICT-related activities in the region;
• Discussing about implementation frameworks for initiatives and projects already announced by ITU and its partners of which some might have already been commenced;
• Agreements and commitments from member countries, international organisations, private sector and any interested partners wishing to participate, promote, and support the initiatives/projects;
• Partners’ dialogues for potential new projects in the region.

The Forum was attended by senior officials of ministries/regulators in charge of ICTs and telecommunications, and senior management of private sector organisations, international organisations, NGOs and agencies interested in participating in the meeting.
