Meeting of the Expert Group on Telecommunication/ICT Indicators (EGTI)

​The 4th Meeting of the Expert Group on Telecommunication/ICT Indicators (EGTI) took place in Mexico City, Mexico, on 2-3 December 2013. The meeting was organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and hosted by the Government of Mexico. The EGTI meeting was held back-to-back with the 11th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium (WTIS), which took place also in Mexico City, Mexico, on 4-6 December 2013. 

The EGTI meeting was open to all ITU members and experts in the field of ICT statistics and data collection.
 
The objective of the EGTI meeting was to examine the contributions received from members of the EGTI online discussion forum during 2013, with a view to finalizing the list of indicators and their definitions. The final outcomes of the discussions were presented to participants attending WTIS 2013.

The main indicators that were discussed during the EGTI meeting were those related to (1) digital broadcasting, (2) the revision of the Core indicators on ICT infrastructure and access of the Partnership on Measuring ICT for Development, (3) foreign direct investment, and (4) investment and revenue in the ICT sector.
