ITU estimates that in 2026, 76 per cent of the world’s population is online, compared with 74 per cent in 2025. This corresponds to 6.3 billion people, up from 6.1 billion last year. While surpassing three-quarters of the global population represents an important milestone on the way to universal connectivity, 2 billion people remain offline.

Fixed- and mobile-telephone subscriptions
Fixed- and mobile-broadband subscriptions
Fixed and mobile-broadband traffic
Population covered by a mobile-cellular and a mobile-broadband network, total and by urban/rural area
Individuals using the Internet, total and by sex, age and urban/rural area
Individuals owning a mobile phone, total and by sex

Aggregates are based on the ITU regions, the LDC, LLDC and SIDS composition, and income groups according to the World Bank classification.
