ITU estimates that approximately 6 billion people – or 74 per cent of the world’s population – are using the Internet in 2025. This represents an increase from 60 per cent in 2020, with 1.3 billion people estimated to have come online during that period. However, this leaves 2.2 billion people still offline.

Download time series of ICT data for the world, by geographic regions, by urban/rural area and by level of development, for the following indicators (2005-2025; excel):

Fixed- and mobile-telephone subscriptions
Fixed- and mobile-broadband subscriptions
Population covered by a mobile-cellular and a mobile-broadband network, total and by urban/rural area
International bandwidth usage
Households with Internet access
Individuals using the Internet, total and by sex, age and urban/rural area
Individuals owning a mobile phone, total and by sex

Aggregates are based on the ITU regions, the LDC, LLDC and SIDS composition, and income groups according to the World Bank classification.
