Meeting of the Expert Group on ICT Household Indicators (EGH)

The 2nd Meeting of the Expert Group on ICT Household Indicators (EGH) took place in Geneva, Switzerland, on 15-16 September 2014. The meeting was organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and hosted by ITU. The EGH meeting was held back-to-back with the 5th Meeting of the Expert Group on Telecommunication/ICT Indicators (EGTI), which took place also in Geneva, Switzerland, on 17-19 September 2014.

The EGH meetings are open to all ITU members and experts in the field of ICT statistics and data collection.

The objective of this meeting was to examine the contributions received from members of the EGTI online discussion forum over the current working period, with a view to finalizing the items under discussion. The outcome of the discussions will be presented at the 12th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium (WTIS), which will be held in Georgia on 24‐26 November 2014.

The topics that were covered during the EGH meeting include, among others: measuring mobile phone ownership and activities; Internet use by type of device; barriers to Internet use by individuals; Internet security; and child online protection.

The documents concerning the meeting (including the summary, the list of participants and the presentations delivered during the meeting) have been posted on the EGH online forum: http://www.itu.int/net4/ITU-D/forum/expertgrouponhouseholds/forum/yaf_topics80_2nd-EGH-Meeting-2014.aspx
