ITU Regional and Special Initiatives for Europe

The ITU’s initiatives in Europe are centered around global activities and projects. These regional Initiatives are designed to address specific priority areas of particular importance to the Europe region.

Formulated and revised at successive 4-yearly World Telecommunication Development Conferences (WTDC), these regional initiatives mobilize creative partnerships to implement the range of small, medium and large scale projects outlined here. Regional initiatives guide ITU and countries themselves in developing and implementing specific projects to address priority needs in the area of telecommunications and information and communication technologies.

EUR1: Broadband infrastructure, broadcasting and spectrum management

Presentation and official handover to RAK of the policy paper “Enabling Environment for Broadband Mapping in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
Kick-off meeting for the second phase of activities of the technical support for broadband mapping in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Deliverable: Elaboration of technical specifications for tendering and procurement of a necessary set of tools for the implementation of a broadband mapping system.
Presentation on the implementation report “New Graphical Interface of the ITU Interactive Transmission Maps” coordinating with the Digital Networks and Society department of ITU.
First half of February: Kick-off meeting with Moldova for the broadband mapping analysis at the country level.
Launching of the ITU Guidelines “Establishing or Strengthening National Broadband Mapping Systems”.
ITU-UNICEF National Workshop on Connectivity in Education.
Final presentation of the results of the broadband mapping analysis of Moldova and the deliverable associated with it.
