Regional Seminar on Cybersecurity and Cyber Diplomacy

BACKGROUND


The Regional Seminar on Cybersecurity and Cyber Diplomacy is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in partnership with the Comisión Técnica Regional de Telecomunicaciones (COMTELCA) and hosted by ASEP (Autoridad Nacional de los Servicios Públicos) from Panamá. This Seminar is part of the ITU Women in Cyber Programme and other ongoing initiatives to strengthen cybersecurity capacity across the Americas, with a focus on empowering women policymakers to develop and implement robust cybersecurity frameworks. 

The event will take place from 02 to 04 June 2025 in Panama City, Panama, and will bring together key stakeholders from government agencies, regional cybersecurity bodies, representatives from cyber organizations, and other key cybersecurity actors to explore current challenges and solutions in the fields of cybersecurity governance and cyber diplomacy. 
Through a combination of keynote speeches, interactive sessions, and practical exercises, this seminar aims to enhance the understanding of cybersecurity strategies, international collaboration, and capacity-building tools necessary for tackling the region’s evolving cybersecurity threats.


OBJECTIVES​


The primary goal of the Regional Seminar on Cybersecurity and Cyber Diplomacy is to empower policymakers with the knowledge, skills, and tools required to strengthen national and regional cybersecurity frameworks. Specifically, the seminar will: 
  • Enhance cybersecurity capacity and capability through regional cooperation. 
  • Assist Member States in understanding and implementing national cybersecurity strategies and policies. 
  • Promote dialogue on international collaboration and cyber diplomacy to address cross-border cybersecurity challenges.
