The 2nd Asia-Pacific Spectrum Management Conference and Asia-Pacific Digital Societies Policy Forum 2016

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in collaboration with partners are organising a series of forums from 25th to 28th April 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand, with support from the Australian Government and multiple partners.


On 25th and 26th of April 2016, “The 2nd Asia-Pacific Spectrum Management Conference” will be jointly organised by ITU and Forum Global in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT). The Conference will be hosted by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission of Thailand (NBTC) with supports from the Australian Government and the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP), Republic of Korea. The objective of “The 2nd Asia-Pacific Spectrum Management Conference” and the pre-event is to highlight the importance of Spectrum Management for ICT development and emphasize the need to adopt harmonized solutions to issues related technological advancements and spectrum availability for future IMT systems. WRC-15 outcomes and impact on the Asia-Pacific region will also be considered.

The conference is essentially targeted towards the senior officials from Policy Makers, Regulators, Industry, National Spectrum Managing organizations, academia and international organizations involved in developing policies, regulations, operations, strategies and other associated development activities related to Spectrum Management within the Asia-Pacific Region.

From 27th to 28th April 2016, the ITU and the GSMA are organising the “Asia-Pacific Digital Societies Policy Forum 2016” which will be hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology of Thailand (MICT) with supports from the Australian Government. The forum will bring together policy makers, regulators, industry and other stakeholders from the ICT sector to deliberate challenges and potential opportunities through cross sectoral collaboration offered by digital societies in countries from the Asia-Pacific region.

The forum will focus on, inter alia: digital economy and society policies, cybersecurity, digital financial services, technology trends, innovations and tech-startups, and key emerging issues. Those who should attend include senior officials from policymakers, regulators, industry, academia and international organizations who are involved in developing and implementing policies and regulations, and other associated ICT development activities within the Asia-Pacific Region.

Important Notes:

ITU, Forum Global, and GSMA are pleased to provide one to two full fellowship for each eligible country, subject to availability of funds, with preference to those related applicants responsible in the fields of focusing topics of the meetings above such as spectrum management, digital economy and societies, telecom policy and regulation.  Applicants requesting fellowships are required to submit their fellowship request form duly signed by their respective Administrations no later than 11th April 2016.
