The Accessible Americas: ICTs for ALL was held in Guatemala City, Guatemala from 28 to 30 October 2025. This event was organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones (SIT), the national regulatory authority of Guatemala.
Accessible Americas is ITU’s leading regional platform dedicated to promoting ICT accessibility and digital inclusion. This initiative supports our broader mission to ensure that everyone, everywhere, can access, use, and benefit from digital technologies—regardless of age, gender, ability, or location. Our work is grounded in a holistic and intersectional approach that recognizes diversity of needs and challenges faced by various groups in the digital age.
The event enhanced stakeholder knowledge on ICT accessibility policies and strategies, provided a space to exchange good practices, and strengthened regional collaboration. The event opened the possibility to participants to explore practical solutions to address the digital divide, including challenges related to affordable access to ICT equipment and services, and the usage gap in areas with existing Internet coverage.
A special feature of the forum constituted the Executive Training session led by ITU, which focused on inclusive policy design and implementation. This training highlighted how ICT accessibility is central to empowering diverse groups—including youth, women, and girls in rural and underserved areas, elderly, persons with disabilities and specific needs, and Indigenous peoples and communities.
