International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and International Multilateral Partnership Against Cyber Threats (IMPACT) are organizing the ITU-IMPACT ALERT (Applied Learning for Emergency Response Teams), a three-day regional forum on Cybersecurity, for the Americas Region. The first 1.5 days are dedicated to a cyberdrill exercise consisting of a cyberattack simulation in a controlled environment, and the next 1.5 days are dedicated to workshops on current Cybersecurity issues.
The event will take place from 26 to 28 August 2013 in Montevideo, Uruguay at the kind invitation of Latin American and Caribbean Internet Addresses Registry (LACNIC).

The purpose of the cyberdrill is to enhance the communication and incident response capabilities of the participating teams as well as to ensure a continued collective effort in mitigating cyber threats among the region's National Computer Incident Response Teams (CIRTs).
