International Girls in ICT Day 2015 events

International Girls in ICT day 2015 was celebrated in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Theog, Shimla on 23rd April 2015 in association with the Oracle Academy, Bangluru. Ms.Kamal Peter from Oracle academy interacted with girl students through video conference and talked about career prospects for girls in Information and Communication Technology sector in India and abroad.During the real time event the oracle Academy facilitated the interaction with successful Lady professionals in the domain of ICT around the globe which was a real motivational part of the programme.

The girls participated enthusiastically in the programme and even asked career oriented questions from the successful professionals.Around 125 schools particpated in this mega even organized by Oracle academy over the global platform. Later, Ms. Chaitra Shetty from Oracle Academy, provided a hands on session on ALICE software for the girl students to help them explore the possibilities in the gaming and animation industry. The whole event was a focused step towards the Women empowerment. The event also touched the coveted area of bridging the digital divide through e-learning. The coordinator of the programme, Mr Amit Kumar, PGT - Comp Sc, Mr Rajesh Morey, TGT - Marathi, of JNV Shimla and Sh. Suman Kumar, Principal, JNV SHIMLA also motivated the girl students to explore the possibilities for a successful career in ICT Industry in the future. The event was highly beneficial in terms of kindling the hope in the students about a new career option. Hence, such events must be encouraged to be organized in the future.
