Regional Regulatory Roundtable for Asia-Pacific
The ITU GSR Regional Regulatory Roundtable for Asia and the Pacific and Regional Economic Dialogue (RED). The event itself was held virtually from 8-9 June 2021 (1000th BKK time/GMT +7).
The Regional Regulatory Roundtable for Asia and the Pacific and RED discussions focused on Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) Best Practices Guidelines (BPG), regulatory uplift for financing digital infrastructure, access and use, collaborative (5th generation) regulations, incentives to foster affordable ICT services by promoting investment for meaningful connectivity in the Asia and the Pacific Region, economic and financial approaches in the digital ecosystem, effective partnerships for advancing connectivity and achieving the SDGs and policies and regulations for critical technologies of the future.
The event also featured two closed sessions, the first session being the Executive Roundtable which held on 8 June 2021 was for Heads and Senior Official of National Regulatory Agencies and ICT Ministries. The session focused on policy and regulatory challenges faced in the region and provided a platform to candidly exchange ideas. The second closed session on 9 June 2021 was for the sector members and academia to discuss in confidence the challenges being faced by the ICT sector, especially those related to connectivity.
