Online Safety: Contemporary Challenges 2020

This conference is co-organized by The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and International Telecommunication Unioin, in partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with the support of the European Union Advisory Mission. The conference is organized within the framework of the ITU Regional Initiative for Europe EUR4 “Enhancing trust and confidence in the use of information and communication technologies", adopted by the WTDC-17, Buenos Aires. 

The conference will be presented in the innovative format of a movie which will be released on the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine YouTube Channel on 19 and 20 Jaunary 2021. 

Ukraine is on the verge of digital transformation. This event is the first Ukrainian conference on human rights protection on the Internet with the participation of leading international online safety experts, including British partners of Internet Watch Foundation, UN agencies, UN Special Rapporteur and Ukrainian NGOs. The many bright guest speakers will provide lectures on a plurality of topics related to cybersecurity, such as sexual exploitation, cyberbullying and other forms of violence; policies on the development of online safety; and the role of technology in education and daily life.

The event aims to help consolidate the efforts of all stakeholders involved in cybersecurity and provide a public platform for highlighting legislative, educational and further challenges related to the ever-growing online world.

Within the framework of this conference, a special focus will be made on child online safety. A session will be held on the updated ITU Child Online Protection Guidelines, with the aim to present the content of the COP Guidelines and draw attention to different possible modalities of the national roll outs. Key players of online safety such as representatives of ministries and public organizations, mass media, IT / Internet industry, teachers, school psychologists, juvenile offender's department of the National Police, and social workers are invited to follow this conference to, together, build a safe and resilient online space for all.
