Pacific Regional Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) workshop held in Suva, Fiji from 4 – 7 December 2018. The workshop organized under the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) of which ITU is a partner organization, and is also supported by the Department of Communications and the Arts, Government of Australia.
Objectives
The workshop supports activities of ITU Asia-Pacific Regional office to address the outcomes of the Regional Initiatives on consideration for specific needs of Island States and to assist membership in challenges related to climate change and disaster management . The workshop will cover, amongst others, issues related to:
- ICT and its role in disaster risk reduction and its mitigation
- Development of f National Emergency Telecommunication Plan (NETP) and relevant case studies from region
- Roles of Regional Organization and telcos in Disaster Management
- PPDR networks, GMDSS and MARS database
Notes:
Fellowships: ITU is pleased to provide one fellowship per eligible country from ITU membership from Pacific Island States, subject to availability of funds, with preference to those related applicants who would be able to share relevant national best practices during the workshop. Applicants requesting fellowships are required to submit their fellowship request forms duly validated by their respective Administrations no later than 14th November 2018.
