International Girls in ICT Day 2014 events

Oracle Academy - Mumbai

Mumbai, India, 2014, May 05

There was enthusiastic participation from both daughters and parents at the Computer Science Day for Girls held on 5th May, 2014 at the Oracle office in Mumbai for the daughters of Oracle employees. 14 children attended the workshop ranging from 8 to 14 years.

Ms. Srividya Sabapaty, Sales Consulting Director, Oracle conducted an interactive session on Careers in Computer Science. It was followed by a hands-on session on Alice, an innovative 3D programming software created by Carnegie Mellon University and funded by Oracle Corporation.

The girls had a blast and had lot of fun learning Alice and came with some innovative movies. Many of the children and parents expressed interest in having more such programs in the future. We hope that through this effort we will be able to encourage more girls to take up computer science and coding as a career option in the future.
