CPAUG held an ICT Students debate with the aim of sharing with students the benefits of ICT in education. The EU/Google handbook "Web We Want" was also shared to help them learn how to use the internet during their studies.

The event was supported by the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) who brought together students of Kinawa High School, in the outskirts of the capital city numbering close to 150 participants, 90% of whom were girls aged 13-17 years studying computer as a subject.

This is the 3rd country level event in Uganda since 2012 and the theme adopted was that of WTISD 14 "Broadband for sustainable development." The students learnt about the benefits of broadband vis-à-vis the use of the internet in education and their daily lives as young people.

Other aspects shared were the benefits of ICTs, the future of the internet towards youth empowerment, ICTs and education, and employment opportunities.

At the end of the debate several questions were asked by the students and these will be highlighted in the final report to be shared mid-May 2014.
