The activities planned by ISOC-Liberia Chapter for the Girls in ICT Day  were part of a  two days events: On the first day we had '' Open day in companies"  We  engaged companies, particularly private and public Telecommunication, ICT companies and Digital Centers to hold a "work day for Girls".
 
Five girls and young women each from 20 high schools and technical colleges, bringing  them to a total of one hundred,  will spend a working day at these companies , particularly their ICT Departments to learn and see the practical working of ICT. .

Day two was an Interactive conference  and ICT career fair  day . Additional 100 girls and young women from the selected high schools and colleges  joined us at the Ministry of  Post and Telecommunication on McDonald & Carey Street to learn about Information Communication Technologies careers. During the interactive conference, we had two main speakers among others: Dr. Frederick B. Norkeh- Minister-Post Master General, Ministry of Post & Telecommunications and Dr. Angelique Weeks- Chairperson-Liberia Telecommunication Authority, who talked immensely on the importance of ICT in Liberia and encouraged Internet Service Provider to monitor with us to see how we can move forward after the Girls in ICT program.

At the event we engaged women leaders and Engineers in the ICT and Telecommunication Industries in Liberia to share their experiences explain what impact they are making on the Liberian society; how their jobs look like, speak about education in ICT.

This Event also included a round table discussion on topics of how college education can help girls "make their mark in ICT, showcasing Technical and ICT schools and colleges that provide education in ICT.

The occasion was used to launch an ICT Mentoring initiative for women, a project that has already been submitted to Global Internet Society, ISOC-Liberia parent organization for partial funding. During the launching the Project Leader solicited additional funding for this initiative and invited other stakeholders to join as partners.

The day ended with a Cocktail Reception, invited women in ICT and our selected participants.

This event marks the beginning of a sustained campaign to empower and educate young girls and young women in the area of information and communication technology. Two hundred and sixty-seven girls pledged to build their career in ICT after the program.
