The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), through the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT), and the World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) have collaborated on the joint report titled Greening Digital Companies 2026: Monitoring Emissions and Climate Commitments. Now in its fifth edition, the report analyses the greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, climate commitments, and as an added angle this year, transition plans, of 200 digital companies worldwide.
Following report's launch at the Green Digital Transformation session of the World Telecommunication/Information and Communication Technology Policy Forum 2026, ITU and WBA hosted a key insights webinar on 3 September 2026. The event presented the report's key findings and featured perspectives from industry, civil society, and international organizations on progress, challenges, and opportunities in advancing environmental sustainability within the digital sector.
