Can your frontier technology research drive global good?
If you think it can, submit a paper to Kaleidoscope.
New digital frontiers – from artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum technologies to brain-machine interfaces and cooperative robotics – are reshaping the possibilities for humanity’s future.
The fast-evolving relationship between frontier tech and telecoms will be in focus at the next academic conference from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Kaleidoscope 2026: AI and frontier technologies for good will take place as part of the annual AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, Switzerland, from 7 to 10 July 2026.
Kaleidoscope conferences – alongside the ITU Journal on Future and Evolving Technologies and ITU Academia membership – support growing collaboration between academia and industry.
Researchers are encouraged to consult the Call for Papers.
Influence future standards
ITU Kaleidoscope is a peer-reviewed academic conference.
Each annual edition highlights emerging research trends and their implications for international standardization.
The conference welcomes submissions from both technical and social sciences.
For the 2026 edition, submissions are being accepted in three tracks:
- Frontier technological bases in intelligent and resilient network infrastructures
- Applications and services for sustainable development
- Social, economic, environmental and policy dimensions of AI and frontier technologies
Publication and recognition
All papers accepted and presented at the conference will be published in the Kaleidoscope Proceedings.
Outstanding papers may also be published by international journals, including the ITU Journal on Future and Evolving Technologies.
Authors of the three best papers will receive special recognition and awards.
Authors up to 30 years of age who present accepted papers at the conference will receive a Young Author Recognition Certificate.
More opportunities for research communities
Engaging in ITU’s work through ITU Academia membership helps researchers bring their innovations to market.
Academia members collaborate with companies and governments as part of ITU expert groups responsible for various aspects of radiocommunication, standardization, and development.
The online ITU Journal – free of charge to readers and contributors – offers comprehensive coverage of communications and networking.
It welcomes research submissions all year long, on all topics relevant to the work of ITU.
Published in open access format since 2020, the ITU Journal is indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals.
Along with research articles, the journal includes recorded webinar discussions with researchers and industry leaders.
ITU Kaleidoscope 2026 is organized in partnership with the University of the Basque Country, Spain; KAIST, Korea; Liverpool John Moores University, UK; Politecnico di Milano, Italy; and I-Form Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, Ireland.
