This information session aims to inform administrations on new Wi-Fi and mobile terrestrial wireless broadband technologies and use cases. Wi-Fi and 5G are two key terrestrial high-speed wireless broadband technologies for digital transformation. Therefore, session will focus on new Wi-Fi technologies, 5G and their use cases with focus on developing countries. The session will provide information on global status of new Wi-Fi technologies and 5G (including number of subscribers and coverage information, number of devices, number of developing countries using technologies etc.). The session will also cover the use cases of these technologies and best practices. The goal is to increase the implementation of these new terrestrial wireless broadband technologies in developing countries and help to close the digital divide. The session will also provide information on the relevant outcomes of RA-23 and WRC-23 on spectrum and standardization aspects related to these terrestrial technologies.
