ITU Regional Economic and Financial Forum of Telecommunications/ICTs for Africa, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, 18-19 January 2016

​The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Regional Economic and Financial Forum of Telecommunications/ICTs for Africa was organized by the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) in collaboration with the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of Côte d’Ivoire (ARTCI), at the “Espace Latrille Events” in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from 18 and 19 (morning) January 2016. The meetings organized by the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau for the Study Group 3 Regional Group for Africa (SG3RG-AFR) followed the Forum from 19 (afternoon) to 21 (morning) and the SG17RG-AFR from the 21 (afternoon) to 22 January 2016. 

This Forum is part of the BDT programme to provide Member states and Sector Members in the different regions with the opportunity to present and discuss matters on regulatory, economic and financial issues in the Telecommunications/ICT sector, including cost and tariff issues of relevance to their specific regions.  This is the unique platform in the world where such issues are discussed between regulators and other stakeholders.

The Chairman of the Forum was Mr. Guy Michel Kouakou, Director Economics affairs, prospective and international cooperation, ARTCI, Côte d'Ivoire.

​This year the Forum focused, among other interesting subjects, on connecting the unconnected in a digital converged world, the LET'S ROAM THE WORLD - ITU Initiative, the economic and financial issues in a converged broadband environment and the new challenges in the digital ecosystem.
