Information session: "Accelerating the one digital Europe through the GovStack initiative”

The information session on “Accelerating the one digital Europe through the GovStack initiative" was held in a hybrid mode on 6 July 2022, at 13:00 CEST, as a side event of the Com-ITU of CEPT meeting, held from 5th to 8th July, Berlin, Germany. This regional event was organised by the ITU Office for Europe within the framework of the ITU Regional Initiative for Europe on a digital transformation for resilience.

Nowadays, governments navigate a complex environment that is changing at an ever-accelerating pace. The disruption generated by new technologies, an abundance of data, and crises of a different nature are just some elements that add to this complexity.

Despite these drawbacks, governments remain committed to the goal of providing high-quality citizen-centric digital services. In this sense, the Europe region countries share the same goals, but some countries have proven to be more successful and advanced in their digital transformation journey than the others.

The GovStack initiative created by Germany, Estonia, ITU, and DIAL aims to support the countries in bringing clarity and standardizing the complex journey of digital government services design. It facilitates the sharing of existing best practices and uses the design architecture based on building blocks as a tool for proving that the complex e-government infrastructure doesn't have to be expensive to build and maintain or complicated to use for both civil servants and citizens.

This information session was aimed at disseminating the knowledge about the GovStack initiative and the ways it can assist countries in implementing scalable digital solutions and applications in a cost-efficient, accelerated, and integrated manner.

Since the launch of the GovStack initiative, related activities have been scaling up across the world. This information session represents an opportunity for countries in the region to engage in the GovStack initiative activities. It targets all public authorities in the Europe region that have a stake in government digital transformation.
