Back to back with the 13th International Conference "Keeping Children and Young People Safe Online" and at the kind invitation of the National Research Institute from Poland, NASK, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Office for Europe organized a half-day workshop on Good Practices in Child Online Protection. The workshop was held within the framework of the ITU European regional initiative on "Enhancing trust and confidence in the use of ICTs", adopted by WTDC-17 in Buenos Aires.
This executive workshop delivered a series of specific presentations on good practices in the field of child online protection in particular in Poland, Germany, United Kingdom and Ukraine. Five sessions followed by brief discussions were held by various institutions engaging in protecting children online with the aim of illustrating the current status and showcasing the efforts made. Overall, the stocktaking touched on existing policies, regulations and laws as well as the strategies and initiatives in place in Poland, Germany, and UK to protect children online. In addition, reporting procedures, existing national research centers and current national and international partnerships were presented.
This workshop was organized with the aim of strengthening European and international collaboration as well as creating new partnerships in the field of Child Online Protection. To this end, the half-day of meetings provided a unique opportunity for invited institutions to share their best practices.
