Regional Workshop on Child Online Protection (COP) for the Europe Region: "Empowering the future digital citizens" will be held from 13 to 14 October 2016 in Istanbul, Turkey. Postponed to 2017
This Expert Workshop is organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and hosted by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority of Turkey (ICTA).
The Workshop, organized within the framework of the ITU Regional Initiative for Europe on Building confidence and security in the use of telecommunications/ICTs, agreed by the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2014, will provide an opportunity for expert level dialogue between the stakeholders on strategies and policies related to the use of ICTs among children and young people in Europe. It will cover in particular the existing legal frameworks and policy developments, the role of industry in promoting safety for children, as well as the importance of implementing national roadmaps to enhance child online safety.
Representatives of European Regulatory Agencies, Ministries, Operators of electronic communications, as well as representatives and experts of international organizations and institutions in charge of the regulation and development policy of electronic communications are invited to take part in the Workshop.
