International Girls in ICT Day 2025 “Girls in ICT for inclusive digital transformation” was held on 24 April 2025 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan and Nouakchott, Mauritania.
This year, the global celebration was co-hosted by the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Arab States regions as a hybrid event, which featured a live link between Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and Nouakchott, Mauritania, along with distinguished panellists from around the world, live-streamed for a global audience.
In Bishkek, the event was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic while, in Nouakchott, the celebration was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transition, Innovation, and Modernization of Administration of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
The first session Girls in ICT Intergenerational Dialogue and Open Discussion: Bridging ALL Divides for an Inclusive Digital Transformation was in the interregional format.
The dialogue brought together girls, women leaders, and experts in the ICT sector to engage in a dynamic intergenerational dialogue on how to bridge the gender digital divide for a fully inclusive digital transformation.
The session aimed to inspire current and future generations of girls and women to lead and thrive in an increasingly digital and interconnected world.
The second session Inspirational Dialogue with Role models was designed to foster connections, encourage knowledge-sharing, and ignite ambition in the next generation of women in ICT. Through this dynamic segment a unique opportunity for meaningful inspirational conversations was given to girls, where Role models from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan shared their experiences about what ICT brings to their work, how they overcome challenges, while young audience gained insights and was inspired by the journeys of accomplished women in the field.
