​Philomena Gnanapragasam is the Secretariat-Director of the Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) formed under the auspices of UNESCO. 
She holds a double degree in Psychology and Political Science from UK and Malaysia respectively.  She is two time recipient of the Prime Ministers loyalty award and  has 15 international awards for radio and television including the prestigious Golden Globe Award. Prior to joining AIBD Philomena was Station Manager of Malaysia’s Pioneer English Radio Station, Traxxfm, RTM.  She has significant experience in both radio and television programming and news. Philomena also sits on the board of several  universities in Malaysia and as an industry expert, she advises on the media curriculum for communication studies. Currently she is working on reinvigorating  AIBDs mandate as an intergovernmental body focusing on key policy and current issues in the region. Her most recent initiative is the  Health Communication Manual for media  which focuses on  accurate reporting of  covid 19 and vaccine awareness.
