🌍 First Arab Regional Forum on Early Warning Systems and Disaster Preparedness
Together for Enhanced Coordination and Effective Response
📅 17–18 December 2025
📍 League of Arab States Headquarters, Cairo, Egypt
The First Arab Regional Forum on Early Warning Systems and Disaster Preparedness, to be held on 17–18 December 2025 in Cairo, will bring together over 200 senior policymakers, technical experts, and partners from across the Arab region. The forum aims to strengthen risk knowledge, foster inter-agency coordination, and align national and regional priorities under the Early Warnings for All (EW4ALL) global initiative.
By engaging Arab States, regional organizations, and UN partners, the forum will promote a people-centered and integrated approach to disaster preparedness and risk reduction. Its outcomes will inform national policies, reinforce regional collaboration, and support the development of inclusive early warning systems that protect lives, livelihoods, and critical infrastructure—ensuring that resilience becomes a shared regional priority.
The event is co-led by the League of Arab States (LAS), in collaboration with the regional offices of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the Arab Organization for Meteorology (ARCO), and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
As convener, the League of Arab States will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the forum’s recommendations translate into political commitment and concrete action.
The outcomes will feed into LAS policymaking bodies and contribute to high-level regional agendas, embedding disaster risk reduction and early warning systems as key priorities in the Arab political agenda, and advancing resilience across the region.
