ITU New Technologies and Internet Colloquium (ITEC 2021) 2nd Edition

ABOUT

ITU is organizing the global event "Emerging Technology for Connectivity: Accelerating Digital Transformation in LDCs, SIDS and LLDCs" to promote the use of Emerging Technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing, Internet of things, big data, low orbiting satellites, innovative e-government services etc. for sustainable development to achieving the SDGs.
LDCs, SIDs, and LLDCs risk being left behind and the urgency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic further reinforces the need to extend the benefits of emerging technologies.

The ITEC 2021

As part of the global event "Emerging Technology for Connectivity: Accelerating Digital Transformation in LDCs, SIDS and LLDCs", is being organized the ITU New Technologies and Internet Colloquium (ITEC 2021) 2nd Edition.
Countries in the Region are deploying 5G network plans. Those plans consider national preparations from spectrum assessment and assignation, regulatory aspects, public-private agreements, agreements with suppliers, external investment, application on the national industry, etc. On the other hand, one critical aspect to be considered is the inclusion, the current digital divide and the projections of to serve rural sectors and underserved populations.
ITEC 2021 aims to offer a space for regional discussion and analysis on the deployment of 5G networks, their benefits, projections of the countries of the Region, their impact to the industry, to the productive sector, to the education, to the health, to the government, to the financial sector, etc.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

  • Public and private institutions of the Americas Region related to ICTs and the agriculture production;
  • Representatives from the administrations, from Sub Secretaries of telecommunications, directors from regulators, etc.;
  • Technician representatives from the Administrations;
  • Representatives from the academia;
  • Private sector working on innovation of ICTs;
  • Young entrepreneurs from technical careers of universities of the region.

PURPOSE

The overall objective is to promote the wide scale deployment of emerging technologies including, Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Big Data, low orbit satellites, 5G, digital government and blockchain, to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The focus of this year’s edition of the event "Emerging Technology for Connectivity: Accelerating Digital Transformation in LDCs, SIDS and LLDCs" is to target SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The event intends to build a space for analysis and discussion about the plans to deploy new technologies in the countries of the Regions, identify needs, analyse impact, applications on the industry, analyse further steps to reduce the digital gap, and incentive the sustainable an sound implementation.
