Dr. Wondwossen Mulualem Beyene, Freelance Researcher, Hawassa University, Ethiopia
Dr. Wondwossen Mulualem Beyene has been active in digital inclusion research since 2014. He has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented papers, all in the area of digital inclusion, at different international conferences.
Dr. Wondwossen’s career begun in 2001 when he took up a position as a data analyst at the Southern Ethiopia region’s civil service commission. Then he went up to work for different non-governmental organizations such as SOS Children’s Village (2003-2005), People in Need-Czech Republic (2005-2010 and 2012-2014), World Health Organization Ethiopia office (2014), and UNDP Ethiopia office (2020-2021) on positions such as IT Teacher, IT expert, data management assistant, and knowledge management technical advisor. Dr. Wondwossen has the experience of working outside of his home country. He has been a digital archives intern at Malta National Archives (2011) and a PhD research fellow at Oslo Metropolitan University, Norway (2014-2018). Most recently, he has been working from home as a digital inclusion content curator for UNDP. He occasionally partners with researchers to write research papers.
Dr. Wondwossen has a PhD in Library and Information Science from Oslo Metropolitan University, with digital accessibility being his specialization. He also holds a M.Sc. in Health Informatics from Addis Ababa University and a joint Master’s degree in Digital Library which he obtained by studying at universities in Norway, Italy and Estonia.
