Dr. Benet C Henry is a board-certified St. Lucian born, Medical Practitioner/ Consultant Ophthalmologist, lecturer, mentor and medical researcher at the A-Medic Clinic and Optipham Eye Centre based in Dominica and St. Lucia.
Dr. Henry holds over 16 years of private practice and has gained regional experience operating in the organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS)/ Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries. He is an international member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Vice-President of the Dominica Medical Association and medical officer on the disaster management and health facilities committees.
Dr. Henry holds a Doctor of Medicine degree and specialized in comprehensive ophthalmology from the Superior Institute of Medical Sciences, Havana, Cuba. The ophthalmic surgeon is currently undertaking an MBA degree to complement his managerial endeavors. He has undertaken various Continuous Medical Education (CME) courses and conferences to enhance diagnostics, response and delivery in healthcare.
Over the years, Dr. Henry has incorporated teleophthalmology in his practice; this of which catalyzed his interest in chronic diseases using telemedicine. He has successfully implemented the telemedicine project which aimed at the management of diabetes and hypertension in Small Island Developing States.
