This ITU study on "Interconnectivity and reduction of Internet access cost in the Andean Community Countries: Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru" describes the national and international context in terms of interconnection and analyses the main factors that could influence the Internet access costs which impact the prices for end users. In addition, this study identifies the regional interconnection opportunities considering the different realities, as is the case of social, economic and geographic aspects. Four main elements were considered: Optimization of resources and international links, access to fiber optics submarine cables, identification of intermediaries and partnerships, and international agreements.
