Do I need a visa?

Every foreign national coming to the United States must be in possession of a passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant's intended period of stay in the United States.

Delegates should obtain a United States visa at the nearest US Embassy or Consulate. It is recommended that applications for visas be made two months in advance of the planned date of travel.

Visa application

When applying for a visa, the following documentation should be submitted to the US Embassy or Consulate:

  • Passport
  • Diplomatic note issued by your Government or an authoritative institution which certifies your participation in the conference.
  • An application form OF-156, which should be completed and signed. These forms are available at all US consular offices.
  • Two photographs 1½ inch square (37x37 mm) for each applicant, showing full face, without head covering, against a light background
  • Other documentation may be required by the US consular office.
