ICT Accessibility Training: Towards Building Inclusive Digital Communities.

​​​The ITU Regional Office for the Arab States is organizing an online training course on ICT/Digital Accessibility: “Towards building inclusive digital communities". The training will be conducted virtually in Arabic language, during the period  6- 7 December 2021, between 10:00 to 13:30 Cairo Time, within the framework of the ITU-UNESCO Regional Digital Inclusion Week activities, and particularly Accessible Arab Region - ICT for ALL event.

Harmonized Calculation Method for Africa (HCM4A) Validation Workshop

Harmonized Calculation Method for Africa (HCM4A) Validation Workshop will be held from 29 November - 2 December 2021. The aim of this validation workshop is to present the updated version of the HCM4A agreement and the associated manual and to seek the initial feedback from the participants on the technical matters of the agreement.

ACCESSIBLE AMERICAS 2021

Accessible Americas is the flagship ITU regional activity focused on ICT Accessibility as a mean to ensure digital inclusion and empowerment through ICTs of ALL people, regardless their age, gender, ability or location in the region. Accessible Americas represents the regional knowledge development platform in ICT accessibility aiming to support ITU members and regional stakeholders in their implementation efforts by sharing good practices and challenges, leveraging their capacity in the ICT accessibility topic, offering networking and partnership opportunities to facilitate the development of digitally inclusive societies.

Regional Cyberdrill for ECOWAS

The first edition of ITU-ECOWAS regional Cyberdrill will be held remotely and aims to bring together the cybersecurity community and specifically ITU Member States in West Africa to meet the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Building upon the discussions and outcomes from last year's event, this CyberDrill for ECOWAS member states will emphasize the role of national Computer Incident and Response Teams (CIRTs) and Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs) in building cyber resilience and protecting critical information infrastructure.

Consumer protection in the digital age, Data Privacy and Protection

The workshop on consumer protection for the Pacific will be held on 23 November 2021 from 11:00 - 13:00 (GMT+7 / BKK time). The workshop is envisaged with objectives of increasing the understanding of the role of emerging technologies on consumer protection, creation of awareness among the regulators and policy makers in the Pacific on consumer protection (including data privacy and protection) in the digital age, international practices and its implications in the Pacific and identifying the key issues and challenges related to consumer protection in the Pacific

29th meeting of the Telecommunication Development Advisory Group (TDAG-21/2)

The 29th meeting of the Telecommunication Development Advisory Group (TDAG) will be held online, from 8-12 November 2021, as was decided by TDAG ​at its meeting 25-28 May 2021. In view of the continued prevalence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting of TDAG will be held virtually for the second year in a row. The meeting will be limited to three hours per day to minimize the disturbance to participants from all time zones.  

Global Innovation Forum

The second edition of the Global Innovation Forum will be
held online from 25 to 29 October 2021, under the theme Building partnerships to mainstream entrepreneurship.

The forum is a five-day, immersive event that will take participants on global and regional learning journeys to learn the “why”, “what” and “how” of building new partnerships that ensure that communities have the
right innovation capabilities to be resilient and competitive with digital technologies

ITU Forum on Future Networks and C&I

ITU Forum on Future Networks and Conformance and Interoperability (C&I) is addressed to representatives of ministries, regulators, municipalities, telecom operators, universities and general education institutions, telecommunication equipment manufacturers, research and development institutes, software developers and other interested stakeholders.

ITU-D Study Group 1 Plenary and Rapporteur Group meetings

ITU-D Study Group 1 Plenary and Rapporteur Group meetings will be held from 11 to 15 October 2021. Interpretation for International Sign Language (ISL) will be provided for the Question 7/1 meeting. All meetings are real-time captioned.

3rd meeting of the TDAG Working Groupon on Strategic and Operational Plans (TDAG-WG-SOP)

The third meeting of the TDAG Working Group on the Strategic and Operational Plans (TDAG-WG-SOP), which will take place online on 4 October 2021, from 0700h-1000h CEST (1200h-1500h in Bangkok).

Based on the discussions taken at the last TDAG meeting, the goal of this meeting will be to capture input from the TDAG-WG-SOP on the frameworks for the ITU Strategic Plan and the Addis Ababa Action Plan.

Economic Experts Roundtable

The 8th ECONOMIC EXPERTS ROUNDTABLE “The role of Government and the Public Sector in post-COVID-19 digital world” will be held on Tuesday, 28 September 2021​ 14:00 – 16:00 CEST Geneva time​.

​Target Audience: Telecommunications/ICT Policy Makers, National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs), Network Operators and Service Providers, Industry and Technology Community​

ITU Regional Innovation Forum for Europe 2021

This edition of the ITU Regional Innovation Forum for Europe 2021 will bring together regional stakeholders to share insights and offer much-needed opportunities for leaders and innovators across sectors to pioneer new approaches, share best practices and adopt new solutions across industries and markets. The forum will cover three main areas: the general digital innovation ecosystem, the agricultural digital ecosystem and the ICT accessibility ecosystem.

Road to Addis: Partner2Connect Meeting​

The Partner2Connect will conclude the first chapter of the Road to Addis Series on the “6 Enablers of Connectivity for Sustainable Development”, present the key outcomes of the discussions and launch the second chapter of the Road to Addis Series. The Road to Addis: Partner2Connect Meeting is a side event of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

12th meeting of the Expert Group on Telecommunication/ICT Indicators (EGTI) and 9th meeting of the Expert Group on ICT Household Indicators (EGH)

The 12th Meeting of the Expert Group on Telecommunication/ICT Indicators (EGTI) will take place virtually from 13 to 14 September 2021. The meeting is organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The EGTI meeting will take place back-to-back with the 9th Meeting of the Expert Group on ICT Househol​​d Indicators (EGH)​, which will also take place virtually from 16 to 17 September 2021. A joint EGTI-EGH session will be held on 15 September 2021.

ITU Regional Engagement Roundtable for Europe 2021

The “ITU Regional Engagement Roundtable for Europe 2021" (RER-EUR-21) is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) with the support of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georga. The Forum will be held remotely on 13th September 2021 and will be held back to back with the meeting of the Com ITU of CEPT (13-15 September 2021).

Emerging Technology for Connectivity: Accelerating Digital Transformation in LDCs, LLDCs and SIDS

The objective of the Emerging Technology Week is to promote the wide scale deployment of emerging technologies including, Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Big Data, low orbit satellites, 5G, digital government and blockchain, to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.​

Global Cybersecurity Index Report Launch

The GCIv4 Report Launch Webinar will showcase key takeaways and insights from the GCIv4 Report among ITU Member States, Sector Members, UN agencies, and other key stakeholders. The launch will feature a presentation highlighting some of the best cybersecurity practices, as well as a global cyber dialogue among representatives from the different ITU regions. The event is designed to be dynamic and informational, presenting participants with opportunities to further engage on with the ITU on cybersecurity.​

ICT price trends 2020 webinar

The ICT price trends 2020 webinar aims to share with a broad audience the latest findings from the 2020 data collection carried out by ITU in collaboration with the Alliance for Affordable Internet. With the webinar, ITU further aims to support policy makers and regulators in managing ICT services for consumers particularly during the pandemic and the recovery period.

GSR-21 Core Events and Special Sessions “Regulation4Digital Transformation”

The 21st Global Symposium for Regulators Programme (GSR+21) will be held from April to June 2021, with all meetings and sessions online, and including new options and features. Regional Sessions will be held from April to June (see dates below), and core sessions from 21 to 25 June 2021 under the theme: Regulation 4 digitaltransformation: Accelerating inclusive connectivity, access and use.

Lead2Connect​: Redefining Leadership and its Role in Connecting the Unconnected​

This session of the Road to Addis Series will focus on Leadership as a driving force to achieve digital transformation and universal connectivity. Held as part of the program of ITU's Global Symposium of Regulators (GSR) 2021, the world’s pre-eminent gathering of ICT regulators since 2000, the session aims to inspire not only members of the ICT regulatory community, but also the general audience by featuring leading figures from different sectors who will share valuable lessons in accomplishing the unimaginable.
