In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a halt. 1,58 billion students could no longer go to school, millions of people started working from home, and telecommunications and Internet infrastructure came under tremendous pressure as people shifted their lives online.

The WTDC is a unique opportunity to develop innovative approaches and new models of collaboration for connectivity and digital solutions in this final Decade of Action to achieve the SDGs .

Road to Addis: Episode 3 This session will bring attention to the importance of developing appropriate policies, strategies and actions that address the specific needs for the digital inclusion of women and girls, youth, children, persons with disabilities, the older persons, Indigenous peoples, and people living in remote areas to achieve true and meaningful universal connectivity.

Road to Addis: Episode 4 This session will will explore some innovative financing models and their application, as well as some good practices and lessons learned in financing connectivity for sustainable development.

The aim of the Inter-Regional Meetings is to foster inter-regional discussions and identify common positions and agreement on key issues ahead of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC)

This session of the Road to Addis Series will focus on Leadership as a driving force to achieve digital transformation and universal connectivity. Held as part of the program of ITU's Global Symposium of Regulators (GSR) 2021, the world’s pre-eminent gathering of ICT regulators since 2000, the session aims to inspire not only members of the ICT regulatory community, but also the general audience by featuring leading figures from different sectors who will share valuable lessons in accomplishing the unimaginable.

The Partner2Connect will conclude the first chapter of the Road to Addis Series on the “6 Enablers of Connectivity for Sustainable Development”, present the key outcomes of the discussions and launch the second chapter of the Road to Addis Series. The Road to Addis: Partner2Connect Meeting is a side event of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

The Generation Connect Global Youth Summit will be held on 2 – 4 June 2022, at the Intare Conference Arena, in Kigali, Rwanda. It will precede the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) under the WTDC’s theme Connecting the unconnected to achieve sustainable development. The Generation Connect Global Youth Summit will be in a hybrid format, with physical participation, as well as virtual youth engagement. Youth aged 18 – 29 are invited to participate physically. Virtual participation will also be open to youth aged 15 – 29.

WTDC will be held in Kigali, Rwanda, from 6 to 16 June 2022 Under the theme  “Connecting the unconnected to achieve sustainable development”. WTDC is a unique opportunity to develop innovative approaches and new models of collaboration for connectivity and digital solutions in this final Decade of Action to achieve the SDGs . 

The Partner2Connect (P2C) Digital Development Roundtable will be an open global event spanning over three days from 7 to 9 June 2022 in Kigali, Rwanda. The Roundtable is an integral part of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) and will be held in a hybrid format.
