Road to Addis: Episode 3 This session will bring attention to the importance of developing appropriate policies, strategies and actions that address the specific needs for the digital inclusion of women and girls, youth, children, persons with disabilities, the older persons, Indigenous peoples, and people living in remote areas to achieve true and meaningful universal connectivity.
The Regional Forum for Europe on “Accessible Europe: ICTs 4 ALL" will take place virtually from 23 to 25 March 2021. This regional event for Europe is being jointly organised by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and European Commission (EC).
Co-organised by the ITU and the UN Major Group on Children and Youth, the Youth SPI Platform, and the UN IANYD Youth Caucus, this side-event will be held on April 06, 2021 between 9:00 -10:00 EST (15:00 – 16:00 CET).
This year marks the 10th Anniversary of International Girls in ICT Day with the theme “Connected Girls; Creating Brighter Futures.” Traditionally celebrated on the fourth Thursday of April, the Girls in ICT celebrations for this special year will highlight the 10 moments in the life of young girls bringing into focus some of the key stakeholders and industries responsible for promoting girls in the field of technology. The session held on 22 April will represent the 3rd of the 10 moments: Dialogue and Conversation.

Accessible Americas is the flagship ITU regional activity focused on ICT Accessibility as a mean to ensure digital inclusion and empowerment through ICTs of ALL people, regardless their age, gender, ability or location in the region. Accessible Americas represents the regional knowledge development platform in ICT accessibility aiming to support ITU members and regional stakeholders in their implementation efforts by sharing good practices and challenges, leveraging their capacity in the ICT accessibility topic, offering networking and partnership opportunities to facilitate the development of digitally inclusive societies.
The ITU Regional Office for the Arab States is organizing an online training course on ICT/Digital Accessibility: “Towards building inclusive digital communities". The training will be conducted virtually in Arabic language, during the period 6- 7 December 2021, between 10:00 to 13:30 Cairo Time, within the framework of the ITU-UNESCO Regional Digital Inclusion Week activities, and particularly Accessible Arab Region - ICT for ALL event.
Women in Cyber Mentorship Programme 2022: Launch Event will be held on 8 March 2022 from 2 to 3 PM CET. ITU-D Women in Cyber programme aims to tackle the cultural and systemic barriers that prevent broader inclusion of women in cybersecurity, while working to equip them with the skillset to enter and thrive in the field.
The European Digital Youth Jam is an event organized by the members of the ITU Generation Connect - Europe Youth Group (GC-EUR), facilitated by the ITU Office for Europe. The event will take place virtually on 4 April 2022. This event will serve as another step towards the Generation Connect Youth Summit, to be held in June 2022, as well as the European Year of Youth 2022 as declared by the European Commission.
This year, International Girls in ICT Day will be celebrated on 28 April. The Girls in ICT Global Dialogue will mark this year’s celebration of Girls in ICT Day. It will take place in the framework of the WSIS Forum 2022, as part of Gender Mainstreaming track in which the forum promotes and maintains gender equality and women empowerment, guaranteeing the inclusion of women in STEM/ICT. The event aims to raise awareness, share good practices and challenges, leverage capacity and encourage regional engagement in prioritizing digital accessibility to build inclusive digital societies and environments for everyone in the Arab region.
