The world’s ever-faster adoption of digital technologies reflects collective endeavours by people of varied backgrounds and skillsets, largely at the national and local level.

In the Philippines, the national statistics agency has visited thousands of households, collecting the essential data on who has Internet access and how much use they make of the information and communication technologies (ICTs) that have become so crucial for prosperity in today’s world.

That data gets fed back into the key policies shaping the country’s ICT infrastructure.

Data gathering exercises at the national and regional levels – in line with guidance from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) – are crucial to connect the world.
