Call for proposals: Architecture for vehicular multimedia

The ITU Focus Group on Vehicular Multimedia has issued a Call for Proposals inviting contributions to the second phase of its work – the development of an architecture for vehicular multimedia.

The automotive industry is building on recent advances in information and communication technology (ICT) to introduce new ‘infotainment’ systems incorporating services such as Augmented Reality navigation, video streaming, and automated in-vehicle climate control.

The Focus Group is investigating where international standards could support the global adoption of these infotainment systems.

The Focus Group has documented innovative use cases of vehicular multimedia and their underlying technical requirements. In the second phase of its work, the group will propose the architecture, interfaces and protocols of the vehicular multimedia network.

Proposals are invited until 4 September 2019.

The proposals received will be discussed at the Focus Group’s upcoming meeting in Budapest, Hungary, 11-12 September 2019, to be held in conjunction with ITU Telecom World 2019.

ITU Focus Groups are open to all interested parties.
