8-9 October: ITU-SAE workshop on intelligent transport systems

Connected vehicles and automated driving are fast moving onto public roads, holding great promise to improve road safety and personal mobility, and decrease congestion and emissions.

A workshop on ‘how communications will change vehicles and transport’ in Detroit, United States, from 8 to 9 October 2018, will bring together the information and communication technology (ICT) and automotive industries to discuss the latest advances in connected, automated driving and associated implications for business and technology.

The workshop is co-organized by ITU and SAE International in conjunction with the SAE Symposium ‘From ADAS to Automated Driving’, 9 to 11 October 2018.

Participation in the ITU-SAE workshop is free of charge and open to all.

The workshop will discuss the evolution of the business relationships between vehicle manufacturers and telecoms carriers – highlighting the interplay of considerations relevant to safety, automated driving and mobility services.

Also in focus will be the new business models and connectivity strategies enabled by the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as technologies supporting IoT such as intelligent antennas and vehicle gateways.

‘Deep-dive’ technical sessions will explore the automotive benefits expected of 5G systems; the deployment status of communication technologies supporting automated driving; and emerging cybersecurity challenges in the automotive sphere.
