ITU Secretary-General Dr Hamadoun Touré joined over 600 young people and mentors from 68 countries around the world for one common purpose: to give young people around the world a voice, at the first-ever BYND2015 Global Youth Summit.

During an off-site visit to the Museo del Niño, relating to Child Online Protection (COP) and a Disney initiative called Train the Trainers, Dr Touré said to the young participants; ‘you are the future leaders of the World. Pura Vida, Pura Niños’.

This theme consistently re-curred throughout the Summit as young people came together to share their experiences and offer possible ICT solutions to the issues they face.

The Youth Summit Declaration, drafted during the Summit, is being taken to the 68th session of the UN General Assembly by President Laura Chinchilla of Costa Rica as a key input to the post-2015 development process.
