I was very pleased today to be able to sign an important new Memorandum of Understanding with the Serbian Minister of Telecommunications and Information Society, H.E. Ms Jasna Matić, to create a new Global Network of Women ICT Decision Makers.

Minister Matić has been a passionate campaigner for improving the opportunities for girls and women in the field of ICTs, and successfully championed the adoption of a new Resolution on women in ICTs at ITU’s Plenipotentiary Conference in October.

The Minister was accompanied at the signing ceremony by the Serbian ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, H.E. Mr Uglješa Zvekić. The Director of ITU’s Radiocommunication Bureau, Mr Valery Timofeev, and Deputy-Director of ITU’s Telecommunication Development Bureau, Mr Yury Grin, were also present and lent their enthusiastic support.
