World Telecommunication & Information Society Day (WTISD 2023)

Theme: Empowering the least developed countries through information and communication technologies

World Telecommunication Day has been celebrated annually on 17 May since 1969. The date marks the anniversary of the founding of ITU on 17 May 1865, when the first International Telegraph Convention was signed in Paris. In 2006, the name of the event was changed to World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD).
