Session 2 – Future Networks and Convergence for Africa
(organized by SG13RG)

This session will introduce ITU-T SG13 work on future networks, covering the non-radio aspects of IMT systems (mainly IMT-2020 and IMT-2030) and the convergence of fixed, mobile, and satellite networks, while highlighting ongoing and upcoming standardization activities in these areas. The session will also examine the technical challenges, deployment requirements, and practical considerations for African countries and share experiences and lessons learned from implementing future network architectures in the continent.

16:00-17:30
Session 3 – Quality of Service and Quality of Experience best practices and policies in Africa
(organized by SG12RG)

Representatives from national regulatory authorities (NRAs) in Africa showcase their application of ITU-T Recommendations such as ITU-T E.805ITU-T E.806ITU-T E.812ITU-T P.10/G.100 in their approaches to service quality regulation.
The session will also address the unique measurement challenges faced in sparsely populated regions, explore AI-assisted methods for monitoring Quality of Service, and examine how power outages affect network performance and service availability.

(organized by SG12RG)

This session discusses perspectives on quality indicators, measurement principles, and testing methodologies for OTT services (including digital financial services) in mobile networks.
In addition, it will introduce strategies for mapping and visualizing connectivity assessments, such as those described in Recommendation ITU-T E.813. Discussions will explore both regulatory and industry implementation viewpoints, offering a comprehensive look at how quality and connectivity are evaluated and visualized in today's mobile environments.
