Session 2: Future Networks and Convergence for Africa
This session will introduce ITU-T SG13 work on future networks, covering the non-radio aspects of IMT systems (mainly IMT-2020 and IMT-2030) and the convergence of fixed, mobile, and satellite networks, while highlighting ongoing and upcoming standardization activities in these areas. The session will also examine the technical challenges, deployment requirements, and practical considerations for African countries and share experiences and lessons learned from implementing future network architectures in the continent. Session 3: Quality of Service and Quality of Experience best practices and policies in Africa Representatives from national regulatory authorities (NRAs) in Africa showcase their application of ITU-T Recommendations such as

ITU-T P.10/G.100 in their approaches to service quality regulation. The session will also address the unique measurement challenges faced in sparsely populated regions, explore AI-assisted methods for monitoring Quality of Service, and examine how power outages affect network performance and service availability.

Session 4: Computing and Artificial Intelligence for Future Networks
This session will present the main achievements and planned standardization work of ITU-T SG13 in the fields of computing, cloud, and data handling, as well as the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning for future networks. Participants will explore the main technical requirements, architectural considerations, opportunities, challenges and recommendations for adopting AI-enabled and cloud-integrated networks in Africa and review possible use cases of AI and automation to enhance network performance and efficiency.

Session 5: QoS and QoE assessment in mobile and fixed networks This session discusses perspectives on quality indicators, measurement principles, and testing methodologies for mobile and fixed networks. The session reviews quality assessment approaches for OTTs, including digital financial services, and introduces strategies for mapping and visualizing connectivity assessments, such as those described in Recommendation
ITU-T E.813. Discussions will explore industry implementation viewpoints, offering a comprehensive look at how quality and connectivity are evaluated and visualized in today’s telecommunication networks.
