About the Green Standards Week 2019

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) together with the Secretary of State for Digital Advancement, the UN Environment, the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions (BRS), the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the United Nations University (UNU-EGOV), the Spanish Association for Standardization (UNE), the General Council of Professional Associations in Computing Engineering (CCII),  the Inter-American Association of Telecommunication Enterprises (ASIET), Green Electronics Council, IoT Forum, IoT Lab, Mandat International, the Official College of Telecommunications Engineering (COIT), the Spanish Association of Telecommunication Engineers (AEIT), the Organization for International Economic Relations (OiER), the Solving the E-waste Problem (StEP) Initiative, Synchronicity and the World Resource Forum (WRF), at the kind invitation of the City of Valencia, are organizing the ninth edition of the Green Standards Week, from 1 to 4 October 2019 in Valencia, Spain. 

The Green Standards Week acts as a global platform where policymakers, field experts, city planners, regulators, standards experts, civil societies, and among others can come together to discuss the role of information communication technologies (ICTs) and frontier technologies in facilitating smart governance and smart sustainable cities.

The event also aims to identify the standardization requirements that would accelerate the deployment of ICTs and frontier technologies and to raise awareness on the importance and opportunities that they bring in engineering innovative climate solutions, expediting the transition to smart sustainable cities and unlocking the potential of circular economy.

Discussions will be held in English and Spanish.
