10:00 - 10:45Session 1: BSG Session – Update from the Region
In this session, current developments in bridging the standardization gap will be presented and future opportunities identified. The session will start with an overview of the activities under the ITU-BSG programme followed by a roundtable discussion during which Asian experts will discuss key issues, constraints, and best practices for effective participation in standards-making and their implementation. ​ 
10:45 - 12:30Session 2: Emerging Technologies within a Changing Telecommunications Paradigm
Telecommunications sector particularly the proliferation of the mobile communication has been the catalyst for socio-economic development. However, the sector is also characterized by rapid changes in technology from the first-generation analogue phones to the fifth generation mobile technology. In addition, emergence of IoT, development of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Autonomous Vehicles etc. are paving the way for emergence of new technologies. In this session, the experts will discuss the new and emerging technologies in telecommunications.

14:00 - 15:30 Session 3: Convergence of Technologies between Telecommunication and other Industry Sectors
The combination of high-speed mobile technologies, big data, data analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) are opening up new and exciting opportunities in Mobile Financial Services, e-health, education, transport management, urban management through smart cities etc. In this session, the experts will discuss the convergence of technologies across sectors and its role in ushering in the fourth industrial revolution.

15:45 - 17:15Session 4: Transforming Regulatory Regimes in New, Emerging and Converging Technological Scenario
The current regulatory regime for network access was conceived almost 20 years ago, with the liberalization of Telecom markets. Between then and today, telecoms sector has undergone dynamic changes, of both economic and technological nature. In this session, experts will discuss policy and regulatory challenges posed by new, emerging and converging technologies, viz., spectrum management and licensing, consumer protection, cross-border flow of data etc.
