The Geneva Internet Platform held a ‘’Digital Cooperation Day’’ discussion on the Global Digital Compact, on 25 October.
BDT Director and Secretary-General elect Doreen Bogdan-Martin delivered a keynote message at the opening of the event.
She highlighted the critical importance of digital cooperation to advance a free, open and secure digital future. Ms Bogdan-Martin noted that the recently concluded ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2022 achieved key decisions towards this goal, and towards universal connectivity and sustainable digital transformation.
Taking the examples of the Partner2Connect Digital Coalition and the Giga school connectivity initiative, she underlined the importance of partnerships to achieve these goals.
‘’To make progress, we need to work together to nurture, extend and safeguard the benefits of an accessible, affordable and open Internet, for the benefit of all,’’ stated Ms Bogdan-Martin.
