On the occasion of International Women's Day 2022, the Permanent Mission of Israel to the United Nations in Geneva organized a panel discussion on the ''Inclusion of Women in the Technological World of Work''.
BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin moderated the panel, which featured: Ms Anneli Karlstedt, Head of Inclusion & Diversity, Nokia; Dr Galit Deshe, Director, Power in Diversity; Dr Vivienne Ming, neuroscientist and entrepreneur, Founder of Socos Labs; Ms Olga Maximová, Head of Nonprofit Development, Czechitas; Ms Janet Fofang, Founder of Tassah Academy; H.E. Regine Grienberger, Ambassador for Cyber Foreign Policy, Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
The panelists shared their insights and experiences on the challenges faced by women in tech, and discussed ways forward to enable women to be equal players in this space. Ms Bogdan-Martin observed that although there is a long way to go to achieve a gender-equal world, the great work underway provides reason to hope. She noted that increasing the role of women as co-creators of the technologies that underpin every aspect of our world today, is vital to achieving a digitally inclusive future.
Special guests to the meeting shared final thoughts, including H.E. Katharina Stasch, Permanent Representative of Germany to the UN in Geneva; H.E. Michèle Taylor, Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN Human Rights Council; and Ms Adriana Quiñones, Director ad interim of UN Women in Geneva.
