BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin was one of the leaders participating in WEF's virtual 2030 Vision consultation, which seeks to shape an ambitious agenda around specific commitments and actions to harness the power of digital technologies to achieve positive social outcomes in line with the UN Global Goals.
The work of the group builds on calls from the UN partnership mechanism to work to implement the UN Roadmap for Digital Cooperation, through a multi-stakeholder approach that merges expertise and policy design and development, involving the tech industry, government, civil society and the UN family.
The 2030Vision Leaders Group comprises CEOs, Ministers and heads of international organizations. Through this broad coalition, it aims to provide the leadership needed to move markets at scale to accelerate “technology for society' outcomes that drive progress towards the SDGs.
2030 Working Group members are required to actively take part in driving projects around three core pillars – global partnerships, innovation, and big data.
The group meets formally twice a year: at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January, and at the Sustainable Development Impact Summit, which is held in New York around the UN General Assembly.
This first virtual meeting of the group was led by WEF Managing Director Dominic Waughray, and facilitated by Vision 2030 co-chairs, Achim Steiner, Administrator, UNDP, and Simon Segars, CEO of global semiconductor company, ARM.
