On the occasion of International Girls in ICT Day, ITU and Com-ITU of CEPT co-organized a joint celebration held on 7 May 2019 in Rome, Italy and is hosted by the Ministry of Economic Development. This event is being held back to back with the Europe Regional Development Forum 2019.
International Girls in ICT Day is a global initiative established upon guidance of all ITU Member States that resolved in Plenipotentiary Resolution 70 (Rev. Dubai, 2018) to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider studies and careers in the growing field of information and communication technologies (ICTs). This global initiative, which is celebrated every fourth Thursday in April, has to date attracted
over
357,000 girls and young women
have already taken part in more than
11,100 celebrations
of International Girls in ICT Day in
171 countries

Celebrations include presentations of role model girls from
Italy and an interactive exercise with the representatives of European administrations on gender equality.
