Catherine Setiawan Bio

Catherine Setiawan is a Project Coordinator at the International Telecommunication Union Asia Pacific (ITU-ASP). She oversees a project, focusing on the​​ enhancement of the development of standards and frameworks for critical technologies in Southeast Asia, focusing on of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the aspects of gender and social biases. She is also ITU-ASP Regional Thematic Lead on Policy and Regulation; and Country Manager for the Philippines and Malaysia.​

She has been working closely with the Southeast Asian Government since 2012. For her previous roles, she was a Regulatory Reform adviser at Cardno International Development, and as a Technical Officer at the ASEAN Secretariat.

For her educational background, Catherine obtained her Master of Public Administration Degree from Cornell University, USA with a full scholarship from USAID Prestasi; and a Bachelor of Law from University of Pelita Harapan (UPH), Indonesia. She also took short-courses (E-government and Big Data) in Maastricht University, Netherlands, with a full scholarship from StuNed; and a training on AI from Centre of AI and Digital Policy, USA.
